Holiday Cocktail

For Thanksgiving day I was assigned to be responsible for appetizers and drinks with my brother-in-law James.  In addition to fine selection of ales and wines, we wanted to put out a cocktail for the family.  Nothing says “the holidays” like a warm buzz between the ears.  We ended up settling on the following:

Holiday Soother (from the Raleigh News & Observer)
2 oz Scotch whiskey
1 oz apple brandy
1 oz apple cider
1 oz simple syrup
pinch of ground cinnamon
1 – 2 ice cubes
cinnamon sticks
Combine in a glass and stir, or cocktail shaker and shake – serve in a tumbler with a cinnamon stick.
It must have been good because it didn’t last long.  Enjoy!
