For Thanksgiving day I was assigned to be responsible for appetizers and drinks with my brother-in-law James. In addition to fine selection of ales and wines, we wanted to put out a cocktail for the family. Nothing says “the holidays” like a warm buzz between the ears. We ended up settling on the following:
Holiday Soother (from the Raleigh News & Observer)2 oz Scotch whiskey1 oz apple brandy1 oz apple cider1 oz simple syruppinch of ground cinnamon1 – 2 ice cubescinnamon sticksCombine in a glass and stir, or cocktail shaker and shake – serve in a tumbler with a cinnamon stick.
