I recently finished reading The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls.
Jeannette Walls is an American writer and journalist who had an extraordinary childhood. This book is her memoir, depicting her parents inability to actually raise her and her siblings. It goes through their childhood of taking care of themselves while the mother mopes around the house because she doesn’t want to take any responsibility and the father struggles with alcoholism and his inability to keep a job. It is an amazing read to see how Jeannette and her siblings attempt to build sustainable lives for themselves into adulthood. This book came out over 7 years ago and was on the New York Times best seller list for 100 straight weeks so there is a good chance you have already read it. If not, I recommend you go find it!
