Two weekends ago, Taylor and I finally made it out to San Francisco to visit our friend from college, Matt, and his fiance, Peter. I say “finally made it out” because we have been telling Matt that we would visit ever since he moved out there over 2.5 years ago. Taylor and I both really liked San Francisco – the city is really walkable, the houses are all cool, and the weather is fantastic.
On Friday, Taylor and I went to get breakfast at a local chain called La Boulange. The food was excellent and Taylor’s coffee was served to him in a giant bowl.
Starbucks recently bought them out though because they want to use their baked goods in their stores. I’m okay with that since we live nowhere near a La Boulange but I’m sure all of San Francisco thinks they are sell-outs. Our first stop that morning was to see the “Painted Ladies”.
Not because of their beautiful design or the great view but because of this:
Matt was kind enough to download the Full House theme song and play it for us as we drove up. Taylor refused to take a video of me running up the hill like Stephanie and DJ do in the Full House opener. Matt then dropped us off at the pier for our tour of Alcatraz which included a very breezy ferry ride
After Alcatraz, we walked to the Ferry Building Marketplace to pick up some food to cook for Matt and Peter. It was the least we could do with them showing us the city and letting us have an apartment all to ourselves. Well, we did share it with Lily.
Who loved Taylor and slept on him all night for three nights straight. On Saturday we drove up to Sonoma and visited three wineries. The views and the wine were lovely but it was 108 degrees. We cannot escape the heat apparently.
On Saturday night we went out for a really great dinner that I will post about on Friday. It was a wonderful weekend and we wish we could have stayed longer. There is so much more we would like to see.
